The month of May marks an interesting time of the year for growth and celebrations. It is the time of the year when we celebrate the end of the school year, graduations and this year a change in consumer-spending. Warmer weather seems to be pulling customers back into our restaurants to celebrate
Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, graduations, birthdays, Memorial Day and sometimes to just enjoy amazing weather days.

In the spirit of all that May brings us I would like to share some of my favorite lessons from legends in our industry. These legends truly grew and celebrated our industry everyday!

Julia Child – Chef and Pioneer
Find something you’re passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it.

Dining with one’s friends and beloved family is certainly one of life’s primal and most innocent delights, one that is both soul-satisfying and eternal.

Ray Kroc – Founder and Builder of McDonald’s
Are you green and growing or ripe and rotting?

The quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for themselves.

Dave Thomas – Founder, Wendy’s International
If we take care of our customers every day and exceed their expectations, we’ll earn their loyalty.

I think the harder you work, the more luck you have. If you want it bad enough…and try hard enough…you can get it. You can make your dreams come true.

Truett Cathy, Founder of Chik-fil-A:
Learn to love your work and you’ll never have to ‘work’ again.

Success in any relationship or endeavor begins with trust.

Kemmons Wilson – Founder of Holiday Inn
My own success was attended by quite a few failures along the way. But I refused to make the biggest mistake of all: worrying too much about making mistakes.

Remember, a person who wins success may have been counted out many times before. He wins because he refuses to give up.

What are your favorite Lessons from Legends? Share them the entire month of May!
