August 15th would have marked the late Julia Child’s 100th birthday and in celebration of the legendary chef, the Anaheim White House will serve a special 3-course prix-fixe menu with recipes from her groundbreaking cookbook, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking.” The menu was assembled by owner Bruno Serato and will be prepared by Executive Chef Eddie Mezza from Wednesday, August 15 through Tuesday, August 21 for $50 per person.
The first course will feature a Split Pea Soup made with ham, onions and carrots. Main course options include Beef Bourguignon prepared in red wine, Coq au Vin simmered in a rich pinot noir sauce with braised onions and mushrooms and Sole Meuniére fillets sautéed in salt and pepper, parsley and lemon. For dessert guests will enjoy Clafoutis, a baked French specialty of sweet cherries flavored with vanilla and dusted with powdered sugar. The meal is served with a complimentary glass of Champagne.
“Being an Italian chef and food connoisseur, I have drawn a lifetime of inspiration from Julia Child,” said Serato. “It was a joy putting together this menu of some of her most celebrated dishes and I think it will give the dining public a glimpse into why Julia was so beloved worldwide.”
Situated in a historic national landmark mansion dating to 1909, the Anaheim White House restaurant offers a quixotic menu of northern Italian/French fare, extensive wine list, unparalleled service and an elegant setting to create a dining experience that is timeless, remarkable and without equal. The restaurant is located at 887 South Anaheim Blvd. in Anaheim. For more information, visit www.anaheimwhitehouse.com.
