GTBagel Supports the Military

All military always receive 50% off @GTBagel. Georgetown Bagelry supports our military and the people who serve our country. Technically, that should be each of us! One way we can honor the men and women who are willing to give their lives so that we can hopefully raise global consciousness and live freely, is by giving them 50% off their purchases. Badu, our manager, who is from Gambia appreciates U.S. Citizenship so much that he wanted to go into the service but was denied because of medical reasons. I’ve know Badu over 20 years and he only recently told me this. My son, Lucien, whom several of you have probably met in the shop, is a Marine and is home from Iraq. He works at the Bagelry on Saturdays. Badu is very proud of Lucien because it was his dream to serve!

Many, many people are grateful, and I just don’t think we do enough of our fair share to show our appreciation. I sat down with our team of bagel pros and we discussed this. We decided to acknowledge and serve our military with profound gratitude everytime they walk in the store. We decided to make a difference, right here, right now.

We’ve been doing this for a couple of years and letting people know about it via social media. Ann Curry picked up on it and has retweeted my tweets several times.

This morning LTC Michael Stanley from Army raced into the shop to grab a triple toasted ET bagel with bacon horseradish cream cheese and a small coffee. I stopped him, shook his hand, thanked him for his service, and reminded him that we ALWAYS give military 50% off whatever they want.

I cannot tell you how appreciative the military men and women who frequent Georgetown Bagelry are. If our military customers are ever in a war zone, we want them to remember our kindness and that we care. These exchanges are tear jerkers.

We are pleased to take action and support the men and women who serve our country.
