Online Ordering Advertising Tips: Make Your Web-Site Work For You

Having a web-site for your restaurant is a necessity in this digital era. By offering online ordering for your customers, you are cashing in on a great opportunity to change your website from an online business card into a reliable revenue stream. A good restaurant’s web-site offers information about your business, menus, coupons, specials… etc. Online ordering should be the next step.

There are some commonly known techniques that will help inform your customers that you’re offering online ordering for them.

Big restaurant chains with Godzilla-sized budgets can afford to advertise their services everywhere including TV and radio. But not everyone has that type of budget! Advertising of your online service is a crucial part of your whole marketing campaign and there are a lot of of relatively low-cost opportunities to let your customers know what online services you are offering.

If you offer an online service, the Internet is the right place where to promote it. Many restaurants utilize paid-search and email-marketing techniques at a large scale to promote their online ordering for large audiences. Online ordering itself gives you a great free channel for advertising through sending specials, coupons and greetings.

- Include your online ordering website address on paper menus, business cards, coupons, flyers, box toppers, print ads, receipts... It will not cost you much but it will enhance awareness of your online ordering service significantly

- With your POS you already have a database of your customers. Send them emails alerting about your new online ordering option. Your current customers who receive marketing materials will spread the word to their friends, family, neighbors, etc.

- Make sure that your web-site is listed in all of the free online listing services (yellowpages.com, for instance)

- Some of the companies that provide online ordering software offer to promote your online ordering through search engines

- Use promotion advantages provided by your web-site - for instance, send emails about your daily specials. According to NRA data: nearly 40% of consumers say that they would like to receive a daily email from their local restaurant to know what the specials are for that day

- Add banners informing of your online ordering service in front of your POS or cash register where customers pay

- Offer discounts or coupons when a meal is ordered online

Online ordering increases your brand loyalty and increases repeat orders. If customers have a good experience with your online ordering system, it is highly possible that they will go back to the same website for ordering in the future.
