Alerts Are Great Tools
are email updates of the latest relevant Google results (web, news, etc.) based on names, words or content your interested in monitoring. As a restaurant owner, operator, supplier or chef wouldn't it be nice to know if you're mentioned online?
Alerts Provide Invaluable Information
Some handy uses of Google Alerts
include: monitoring a developing news story or restaurant industry issue or concern, keeping current on a competitor or industry activities, getting the latest on a local officials, celebrity or businesses and events. If you're too busy to keep up with sporting events so you can continue to have conversations with patrons go ahead and set an alert.
It's Easy Too
It's very easy to do. Enter a search term, define the types of media you would like to search across which include:
- Comprehensive (This is a combination of all the above)
You select how often you would like to be notified and your choices are:
- As it happens
- Once a day
- Once a week
You will need to provide your e-mail inorder for the alerts to be delivered. I would highly-recommend setting up a Google G-mail for this purpose as well as setting up RSS feeds for blogs you might read and find helpful. (That will be another post...)
