Coupons aren't new to the industry, but they are effective. This is a fact that we've encountered numerous occasions on numerous projects. Blabberbug is the brainchild that resulted from years of these coupon experiences.

Today, we signed up Roburritos in York, Pennsylvania. Roburritos has a rock and roll slant on the mexican format. I was in for a treat when the owner laid his coupon offers on me.

For the Blabberbug recipients: A free chips and salsa. Pretty good, FREE is a buzz word and always works. We're not breaking any boundaries there.

For the Blabberbug senders: Rock, Paper, Scissors for a FREE Burrito! YES! Talk about playing into your brand! This was great, I've been telling everyone I know.

Even in coupons you have the opportunity to just do it, or go above and beyond, build your brand and boost buzz.

How are you building your brand? Know of any off the wall coupon ideas to share?

Steve, those are all great ideas and I remember seeing the Smuckers promo too. It definitely got me.

Years ago, at the NRA, Smuckers did a great promo using a neat gimmick. Basically, it was a golf ball and tee inside one of those Christmas snow scene globes, filled with water.
Get the ball on the tee and win a prize.

It was immediately addictive to anyone who tried....and very difficult to do....but tremendously fun trying. (I still have one on my desk...I've mastered it over the years, but I've only ever seen one other person do it successfully).

My point is the Rock, Paper, Scissors promo reminds me a lot of the golfball globe.

A coupon doesn't always have to be a fixed discount. Even just the chance at a discount or freebie can be a great traffic driver. Especially when it includes a fun experience.

Why not coupon for a free spin (Wheel of Fortune style) at a chance for 2 for 1, 25% off....or whatever. Even better, you can only spin AFTER your meal!
