Voice of the Restaurant Industry

Just wanted to take the time to give a shout-out to all the fantastic members of the restaurant industry who braved the frigid conditions to go into work today.

Outside my window, a blanket of snow 12 inches deep covers the ground. All area schools are closed today, as well as many doctor’s offices and day care centers. People don’t expect their kids to have school today, and many have opted to work from home rather than endure the freezing temperatures, slick roads and mounds of powder.

But should we need a hot cup of coffee, a gallon of milk, or a pizza delivered, we would be dumbfounded if our our local restaurant and grocery store workers had done the same.

Why?

Just like the unofficial creed of the U.S. Postal Service, “”Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds,” restaurant owners, managers and servers consistently brave the elements to open their doors when they’d certainly much rather keep them shut.

So I propose a motto for the restaurant industry: “Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these restaurants, convenience stores and groceries from the dedicated service of their food and beverage.”

Thank you!!

(Funny– I haven’t seen the mailman today… )
