Amanda Hite

Amanda Hite’s on the Market and Blogging about it! Post 1 of 9.

Don’t get too excited not the dating market the job market. After 9 ½ great years, this past December I made the decision to leave T&K. Over the next 3 months I’ll be transitioning out of my role as Director of Training and Development and into something new. I’ve decided to blog about my experience.

Here’s why:

As crazy as it sounds I love this industry and have for 15 years. I dig the addictive fast pace and dynamic people. I still remember back when I stumbled into the industry, those glorious day’s in Management turning in 34% bottom lines, maxing out bonuses, holding shift meetings on the roof top and hittin on the hotties in neighboring competitors restaurants. Like many of you I never said “When I grow up I want to be in the Restaurant Industry” yet Restaurant Careers are a “best keep secret” for people looking for a fun and fullfilling career. Ever since my Recruiting days I’ve been on a mission to make Restaurant Career’s Sexy. If any of you have seen the movie “Waiting” you know it’s not always portrayed that way.

It’s interesting being on the other side of the job search and it’s really shed a big light on how our industry overall sucks at attracting top Talent. So here’s the deal, I’m the ginny pig and I’m going to share with you my experiences and learning with hopes that maybe we can all bring Sexy Back to the Restaurant Industry!

Here is the series of blogs I'll be posting on FohBoh:

Post 2: Why I absolutely had to leave a great gig at a good company.
Post 3: Why most Restaurant Recruiters creep me out.
Post 4: Where I’m looking and where I’m not looking. Where truly Talented
people are going to look for a job.
Post 5: What’s attractive and what’s not about the opening’s at your Company.
Top 10 turn on’s. Top 10 turn off’s.
Post 6: Creating the ultimate Career Lifestyle and why you should.
Post 7: What do you mean I can't start my own business? Watch me….
Post 8: Leaving a great Team.
Post 9: What’s next. A little competition Hite style…..

Stay tuned friends,
Amanda

Amanda-

WOW! I have always admired your strong attitude and approach the restaurant industry since I met you at the People Summit last year. Even hearing the men I work with talk about your passion and can-do attittude is amazing.

I am looking forward to even more insight as you blaze the trails of bringing sexy back to the restaurant industry. (personally- I have always felt that sexy is a great feeling! : o)

Can't wait to read each post that will follow.
