Dear FohBoh members, friends and colleagues,
What an incredible journey it's been since November 2007 when we first launched FohBoh. The social web has changed everything and FohBoh has played its part. However, after 5 1/2 years creating, developing and passionately growing the leading B2B platform and brand for social networking engagement in the foodservice industry, I have decided to step down as President and CEO of FohBoh effective today. In…Continue

Ok so I am jumping on the "[Insert your interest here] Social Media Explained" train. If you haven't seen them there are a few that have been circulating the web using Donuts as a point of reference as well as using the bathroom to explain social media.
Well here's my stab at restaurant social media…Continue

I often ask myself, why are you obsessed with Chick-Fil-A? Maybe it’s their waffle fries, or tasty breakfast options? Maybe the incredible customer service is to blame. Maybe it’s that the nearest location to me is hours away, and we all know absence makes the heart grow fonder. In the end I tend to blame it on the Polynesian sauce. …Continue
Social media is a force of change that is evolving how we work in the marketing suite. When I founded FohBoh 40 months ago as a restaurant social network, social media was a foreign language. Now, it is almost a language in it of itself with "experts and everything.” As with any profession, there are those more skilled than others, disparate philosophies, even early best practices based on varying levels of experience. I don’t believe any one possesses the dominant view,…Continue

More and more I am seeing articles, blogs, webinars, etc talking about the “social media expert”. This title has become one of my biggest pet peeves. Before I read or watch any of these I always seem to have the same initial overwhelming reaction. To me, social media experts don’t exist. You may be thinking, why would someone who lives and breathes social media and executes social media campaigns for several restaurant clients say something like this? Allow me to explain.
Find out about Google's new local advertising program, Google Tags, how and why Google Places has changed their algorithm and how to optimize your local presence (regardless of your niche) in less than 10 minutes.
Please make sure that you select the "720p" option at the bottom right-hand corner (upon hitting the play button) and allow a few moments for the video to load. You can watch this video in full screen…Continue

2010 was a very interesting year for restaurants and restaurant social media. That means it was a pretty amazing year for us here at FohBoh. Why? Because it’s just starting to gel and we can see investment starting to take place. As a start-up, it’s always a good thing to be ahead of the curve. Be the “first mover”, as they say, but not too far ahead. There are also many advantages to being “second mover”. I’ve written about this before citing Google, Oracle,…Continue

I know I know, it's a bit harsh. But when I read post after post (not here on FohBoh, out in the blogosphere) about how pissed industry people are at customers, conditions, salary, hours, etc. I just want to ask, "Why are you here?" This is the SERVICE industry. It pretty much defines everything right there in the title. Service.
I am a Chef because I could not be fulfilled doing any other job. When I decided to persue this life I understood what it came with. Dealing with the…Continue
At various stages throughout the year, restaurant employees from Portland to Pittsburg suffer from the same condition. Like an epidemic, it sweeps the entire industry, taking no prisoners.
