Biography
Yvonne Stephens - Author of 3 health conscious cookbooks

Yvonne Stephens is a chef, former fitness instructor and world-traveler. She holds a culinary science degree from the Art Institute of Philadelphia. Stephens works as a freelance chef and food stylist, and spends all her free time visiting new places, trying new cuisines and learning even more about healthy, delicious eating. Her passion for cooking comes from both her grandmother and mother, who cooked traditional Dutch meals every day. The recipes in her first book “Amazing 7 Minute Meals” originate from traditional world cuisine she found through her extensive world travels.

The recipes in “Say Cheese” are a great example of that down-to-earth Dutch philosophy, combined with delicious veggies, intriguing spice fusions and other protein sources essential for a proportionate diet, and in “Just Try Fish”, Chef Yvonne advocates eating fish and seafood with fun and easy recipes.

Stephens knows that losing weight is a common frustration, and that keeping weight off can be an even greater challenge. She conquered the eating disorder Bulimia and has tried every diet possible, even the “prison diet”, bread and water. Years of yo-yo dieting taught her that diets don’t work because the body is being starved of essential nutrients.

In “Amazing 7 Minute Meals”, Stephens urges readers to incorporate all six nutrients at
meal-time (carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins, minerals and water) and educates them on herbs, spices, hard and soft vegetables and fresh wholesome food. Using the ancient stir-fry technique, the recipes are cooked quickly, which results in better taste, less destruction of nutrients, and slower digestion with fewer cravings.

Stephens understands that lack of time is the main reason why people eat fast food or grab a frozen meal. Sadly, most of those meals are prepared with chemical preservatives, enriched flour, and trans-fats. Stephens shows that a lot of time doesn’t have to be spent in the kitchen to prepare a delicious and healthy meal. Her book offers quick and easy recipes that are perfect for dieters, busy families, young professionals and college students.
Stephens was born in the Netherlands and currently resides in New Jersey.
