Severe Weather Events can mean opportunity for the properly prepared Restaurant Owner

I am resident of Connecticut and over the past three months we have been hit by two major storms, Hurricane Irene and recently Winter Storm Alfred. Hurricane Irene resulted in property damage along the coast line and power outages throughout the state,  as one would expect with a hurricane.  Freak snow storm Alfred, which dumped a 8 to 12 inches of snow in October, resulted in major tree damage across the state along with week long power outages.  Why because leaves were still on the trees…See More

Biography
My dad is a graduate of CIA and although he didn't pursue a career in the restaurant industry he sure taught me how to appreciate good food. His creative cooking and knack for flavor made me a foodie. Through college I worked in the restaurant industry in Orlando as a server, bartender and even a dishwasher so I have a tremendous appreciation for the opportunities and challenges associated with the industry.

My company, Fulcrum Design, LLc, was founded in 2001 as strategic management and business development consulting firm that has expanded over the years into health care, hospitality and technology. Fulcrum’s technology niche is in the emerging area of interactive technology solutions. I have an excellent team of technologists and creative partners, that I contribute to my success. My professional passion is business development and technology. I find it fulfilling when I can integrate both disciplines into a solution that advances my clients towards achieving their goals.

I have a beautiful wife and a remarkable four year old daughter along with two “doggie sister” Maggie and Casey. My hobbies include teaching graduate course in strategic planning, organizational design and economics. Oh, I am also an avid Rotarian.

Text Message Marketing Testimonial

Posted on June 12, 2011 at 8:43pm 0 Comments

Amigos Tex Mex thought to try mobile marketing after we seen that a few restaurants in our area had been successful with it, says John Lannin, General Manager. It seemed like a good way to drive business since everyone is looking for a coupon and what better way than to put it directly in their hands via text. We currently still use the entertainment book and have a few Waterford Lakes coupons out there for the movie theater and the town center. …

TED TALKS VIDEO

TED: Jennifer Senior: For parents, happiness is a very high bar - Jennifer Senior (2014)

The parenting section of the bookstore is overwhelming—it's "a giant, candy-colored monument to our collective panic," as writer Jennifer Senior puts it. Why is parenthood filled with so much anxiety? Because the goal of modern, middle-class parents—to raise happy children—is so elusive. In this honest talk, she offers some kinder and more achievable aims.

TED: David Brooks: Should you live for your résumé ... or your eulogy? - David Brooks (2014)

Within each of us are two selves, suggests David Brooks in this meditative short talk: the self who craves success, who builds a résumé, and the self who seeks connection, community, love -- the values that make for a great eulogy. (Joseph Soloveitchik has called these selves "Adam I" and "Adam II.") Brooks asks: Can we balance these two selves?

TED: David Sengeh: The sore problem of prosthetic limbs - David Sengeh (2014)

What drove David Sengeh to create a more comfortable prosthetic limb? He grew up in Sierra Leone, and too many of the people he loves are missing limbs after the brutal civil war there. When he noticed that people who had prosthetics weren’t actually wearing them, the TED Fellow set out to discover why — and to solve the problem with his team from the MIT Media Lab.

TED: Louie Schwartzberg: Hidden miracles of the natural world - Louie Schwartzberg (2014)

We live in a world of unseeable beauty, so subtle and delicate that it is imperceptible to the human eye. To bring this invisible world to light, filmmaker Louie Schwartzberg bends the boundaries of time and space with high-speed cameras, time lapses and microscopes. At TED2014, he shares highlights from his latest project, a 3D film titled "Mysteries of the Unseen World," which slows down, speeds up, and magnifies the astonishing wonders of nature.
