Our resources in LV blame me for the snow you received in December last year. I sent them cards with 3-d snow globes and joked that I tried to send them snow but the envelopes were getting soggy, so I was "sending it" their way...LOL (sorry about that)...it snowed in LV three days later. Boy...that the calls I got on that one...shesh.
Melanie, you have to stop putting these phenomenal pictures on the V-Bar site. It makes me want to crawl into my igloo and cry being away from Vegas!!! LOL
Well, I would read that post I sent you to him. The face that iTunes has no music playing on it should tell him something. If he wants to do it anyway, you won't find anything that does not sound like bad porn soundtracks for free or your 5 year old at the keyboard issue. I would also recommend that you have a prominent button to turn the sound ON so it does not start to auto play.
My advice is to think of you site not just as a billboard but as place your clients come to interact with you, which they will avoid if they have to listen to the same tinny music or get outed at work for surfing.
Hi Melanie- I saw your question on web music and thought I would give you my thoughts. As another FOHBOH member said, it's best to avoid music. Music/audio is an intrusive part of the web when it's not requested by the user, that's something to avoid. I can understand having to "follow orders", but you really should alert your people that it will do more damage than good. Most websites are trying to build repeat users/visitors ... and annoying them EVERY time they visit will kill them off.
But ... if you you can't get them to listen to the right thing to do, I suggest only placing a short sample that fades. 10 to 15 seconds that goes away. Also, allow your users an "on/off switch" to turn it off right away. If you are going to force something on them, let them end it too. This website has a short loop and also offers an off button at th top of the site. http://www.marquettehotel.com/
