About FOHBOH Corporate

FOHBOH, Inc. ("Front of House", "Back of House") is a unique combination of B2B food +tech + media. We are positioned at the intersection of technology and transformation for the $1.5 trillion foodservice industry.

Food - If its about food consumed away from home, our members are the experts. It is their voice that resonates and represents The Voice of the Restaurant Industry. It is our members' influence that sets the tone and rattles cages and questions the status quo. Over 70% of all online conversations are about food - how we share, what we eat, where we go, when and who we dine with.

Tech – Unlike any time in history, the foodservice industry is enveloped in a technology-driven transformation that is changing how we conduct business. It is redefining the competitive landscape. It will change how we communicate and engage with our customers. Our customers are in charge of our brand image and vote with their mobile devices - rating our food, service, environment, value and social presents in real time. We must strive to remain relevant and ahead of their needs. This is why big data - social customer intelligence is so important in today's business environment.

Media – While we were born a social media company early in the social shift, we every bit a next-generation social+digital media company. This is where FOHBOH is so different. We are not a just a traditional trade media publication that was forced to become digital or die. We are not just a social network for updating our personal or professional status'. Nor are we a cloud-based database that crosses all business sectors globally, or a marketplace that connects vendors selling to operators buying.

When you combine the large, global and fragmented foodservice industry with transformative technologies and a contextually relevant interactive digital +social media community, you find FOHBOH.

The Power of Social Media

FohBoh is more than a network. We are social-business community. Social media is fundamentally changing how humans communicate. Because of this, social engagement online has exploded in recent years. As more people have access to the Internet, technology, Social engagement continues to evolve.

In 2014 and beyond, dedicated niche sites like FohBoh that add real value and provide context, relevancy and social web utility to like-minded professionals, will thrive. People are naturally social, especially those in the restaurant industry and we saw a tremendous need for a restaurant-centric community. We believe that only a community dedicated to the restaurant sector could better address industry issues trends and needs. For example, these issues include staffing, concept development, employee hiring and retention challenges, shift-orientation and scheduling, purchasing methods, employee training, equipment and maintenance, licensing, health regulations, real estate, site selection, customer service, financing, legal and marketing, among others.

It’s Time for Restaurants to Better Utilize Internet Technology

Every day, billions of meals are prepared and served to hungry customers eager to evaluate performance, write and post reviews online. Too often, restaurateurs leave it up to online restaurant reviewers to rate their establishments. Restaurants have been at the mercy of reviewers. It’s time to take control and manage your destiny. Promote, blog, add value, learn, teach and grow. Become part of the conversation.

Now, save money, learn and connect with branded food and beverage manufacturers on our Social Marketplace.

Restaurant Social Media

As the social web evolves, so does FohBoh. Because products and services are being defined by you, on social networks like FohBoh.com, we listened. The result is our evolution as a social media company dedicated to the foodservice industry. Find out how we can help at info@fohboh.net.

The Restaurant Industry

Few other industries are under such scrutiny. Few other industries have such high failure rates and no other industry employs so many on a part time basis than the restaurant industry. To suggest that the restaurant industry is fragmented is an understatement. So, why connect and engage with like-minded professionals online? Because our industry is fragmented, dynamic, and always moving. It's a huge industry and the community is the organization and the organization is the community. Restaurateurs must connect, communicate and conduct business in a social media world and FohBoh offers an insider’s view to the restaurant world.

The National Restaurant Association projects that in 2014, the restaurant industry, in the U.S. alone, will generate over $660 billion in sales, from over 980,000 restaurants operating in 50 states staffed by over 13 million full and part time employees, or 1:10 employed in the U.S. Restaurants are supplied by tens of thousands of vendors that provide fresh, frozen, packaged and pre-made products daily and keep the equipment operating. The total economic impact of the Restaurant Industry is $2 for every $1 generated in restaurant sales, or over $1.5 trillion.

One of the most frustrating aspects of working in any corporation is being stepped over for a promotion. Another example would be the manager who solves problems, reduces turn over, increases revenue, brings the restaurant out of the dark ages, and then is fired despite their efforts.

TED: Michel Laberge: How synchronized hammer strikes could generate nuclear fusion - Michel Laberge (2014)

Our energy future depends on nuclear fusion, says Michel Laberge. The plasma physicist runs a small company with a big idea for a new type of nuclear reactor that could produce clean, cheap energy. His secret recipe? High speeds, scorching temperatures and crushing pressure. In this hopeful talk, he explains how nuclear fusion might be just around the corner.

TED: Sarah Lewis: Embrace the near win - Sarah Lewis (2014)

At her first museum job, art historian Sarah Lewis noticed something important about an artist she was studying: Not every artwork was a total masterpiece. She asks us to consider the role of the almost-failure, the near win, in our own lives. In our pursuit of success and mastery, is it actually our near wins that push us forward?

TED: Matthew Carter: My life in typefaces - Matthew Carter (2014)

Pick up a book, magazine or screen, and more than likely you'll come across some typography designed by Matthew Carter. In this charming talk, the man behind typefaces such as Verdana, Georgia and Bell Centennial (designed just for phone books -- remember them?), takes us on a spin through a career focused on the very last pixel of each letter of a font.

TED: Jeremy Kasdin: The flower-shaped starshade that might help us detect Earth-like planets - Jeremy Kasdin (2014)

Astronomers believe that every star in the galaxy has a planet, one fifth of which might harbor life. Only we haven't seen any of them -- yet. Jeremy Kasdin and his team are looking to change that with the design and engineering of an extraordinary piece of equipment: a flower petal-shaped "starshade" positioned 50,000 km from a telescope to enable imaging of planets about distant stars. It is, he says, the "coolest possible science."
