Recording events at the POS with free cameras...

Posted on July 19, 2008 at 8:23am 0 Comments

We recently started including cameras free with all of our new systems that record important events as they occur at the POS. To view the video, all the owner does is go to a POS report, double click on any item on the report to pull up the video of the transaction occuring.

Any action that you would normally see on any type of audit report such as clock ins, voids, discounts, bad password entry, etc are all included. So, for example, if you were suspicious that a particular employee… Continue

Integrating valet service with the POS

Posted on July 14, 2008 at 5:29pm 0 Comments

We recently set up our system to include communication with the valet and I was wondering what others out there thought about this?...

By the server asking for the valet ticket when they return to the table to collect payment and entering the ticket # at the POS, the valet receives notification to retrieve the customers car.

With only a few extra touches at the POS terminal, the servers are moving the tables faster upon payment and the feedback from the customers has been… Continue

Alliance POS depends on the input from our customers as our main source for new development ideas to meet the technological needs of the hospitality industry. But, with today's changing economy, those needs are changing as well.

For example, it should come as no surprise to most people to know that employees are stealing more than ever. Therefore, we are responding to those needs and our solutions are more focused on reducing this new wave of theft. For example, almost every new POS system… Continue

Hi Katy,
It was great talking to you today! I look forward to working with you in the future. Please let me know what I can do to help!

Hey Katie,
Thank you for your interest in MTT. Our unit is an electronic menu/audio information device. At this point you can't order from it. And although we are looking at that possibility I don't think that is the direction we are going to go into unless it can be done very simply. Generally a restaurant is not going to replace all it's menus with menus that talk. They are going to have five or ten on hand to assist patrons that need them. Of course we do have a hotel that has a "green" program and they are planning to use our menus to replace their paper menus.
I am looking forward to hearing more about Alliance POS.
Kindest regards,

I noticed you are in Atlanta; I have a partner in Atlanta that focuses specifically on the restaurant industry, and we're the only company I've come across that is able to offer gift card processing at no cost, as well as offer services at a flat rate. We would love to visit with you more if you are at all interested in partnering with a local company that works very closely with the Georgia Restaurant Association, as well as a host of other restaurant associations across the country. I appreciate your help!

That's impressive. Restaurant sales is an interesting world! Out of curiosity, are you partnered up with a processor?

TED: Matthew Carter: My life in typefaces - Matthew Carter (2014)

Pick up a book, magazine or screen, and more than likely you'll come across some typography designed by Matthew Carter. In this charming talk, the man behind typefaces such as Verdana, Georgia and Bell Centennial (designed just for phone books -- remember them?), takes us on a spin through a career focused on the very last pixel of each letter of a font.

TED: Jeremy Kasdin: The flower-shaped starshade that might help us detect Earth-like planets - Jeremy Kasdin (2014)

Astronomers believe that every star in the galaxy has a planet, one fifth of which might harbor life. Only we haven't seen any of them -- yet. Jeremy Kasdin and his team are looking to change that with the design and engineering of an extraordinary piece of equipment: a flower petal-shaped "starshade" that allows a telescope to photograph planets from 50,000 kilometers away. It is, he says, the "coolest possible science."

TED: Norman Spack: How I help transgender teens become who they want to be - Norman Spack (2013)

Puberty is an awkward time for just about everybody, but for transgender teens it can be a nightmare, as they grow overnight into bodies they aren't comfortable with. In a heartfelt talk, endocrinologist Norman Spack tells a personal story of how he became one of the few doctors in the US to treat minors with hormone replacement therapy. By staving off the effects of puberty, Spack gives trans teens the time they need. (Filmed at TEDxBeaconStreet.)

TED: Jennifer Senior: For parents, happiness is a very high bar - Jennifer Senior (2014)

The parenting section of the bookstore is overwhelming—it's "a giant, candy-colored monument to our collective panic," as writer Jennifer Senior puts it. Why is parenthood filled with so much anxiety? Because the goal of modern, middle-class parents—to raise happy children—is so elusive. In this honest talk, she offers some kinder and more achievable aims.
