Honestly Deceiving: Being Real with the Consumer

From the moment we are born we are marketers. It starts with ourselves and manifests into some other form down the line. No mater what business direction we end up taking, let’s face it, we are marketing. Before we have learned to walk and talk, we are trying to get through to those higher beings in our lives. The ones who have all the answers and can give us what we want. We learn to market our needs by distorting our faces or challenging our voices to reach decibels of inhumane proportions. And…See More

John Lennon: Peace, Love and Rockin' Leadrership

Hard to believe it's been over 30 years since the assassination of John Lennon. Hard to believe it has been that long since we all gathered around our radios and TV’s trying to take in the news that one of the last great pacifists was murdered. Just like Robert Kennedy. Just like Martin Luther King. And just…See More

OK, so this is getting a little creepy.

Creepy but cool all in the same breath mind you.

First off...WARNING: Wipe any inappropriate thoughts from your mind when you enter a Starbucks. Your mind is about to be invaded.

It was announced that Starbucks was teaming up with…

Hello Ty,

Sorry for the long delay in responding. Just learning to swim here at my new job. I think I've finally got my head above water. And yes, Sarah is awesome!

Husband and I cried at an episode of Star Trek lately. It was beautiful. Lwaxana Troi gets an awesome part in that one. Here's the link to the article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Half_a_Life_(TNG_episode).

I hope the tornado warning has passed. Sounds like your job keeps you busy. Do you find people are very "trainable" in good customer service?

Take Care!

Hey Ty!

I hear good things about you from Sarah! You live in NY, aye? What do you do? How is NY weather today? Any more fires on Metro North? (heard about that last week).

I'm the new sales gal here at FohBoh. I always love it when our CEO says to me "Make it so"!

Been watching Next Gen with my husband for the first time. Loving it!

Earl Gray, hot!

TED TALKS VIDEO

TED: Hamish Jolly: A shark-deterrent wetsuit (and it's not what you think) - Hamish Jolly (2013)

Hamish Jolly, an ocean swimmer in Australia, wanted a wetsuit that would deter a curious shark from mistaking him for a potential source of nourishment. (Which, statistically, is rare, but certainly a fate worth avoiding.) Working with a team of scientists, he and his friends came up with a fresh approach — not a shark cage, not a suit of chain-mail, but a sleek suit that taps our growing understanding of shark vision.

TED: Michel Laberge: How synchronized hammer strikes could generate nuclear fusion - Michel Laberge (2014)

Our energy future depends on nuclear fusion, says Michel Laberge. The plasma physicist runs a small company with a big idea for a new type of nuclear reactor that could produce clean, cheap energy. His secret recipe? High speeds, scorching temperatures and crushing pressure. In this hopeful talk, he explains how nuclear fusion might be just around the corner.

TED: Sarah Lewis: Embrace the near win - Sarah Lewis (2014)

At her first museum job, art historian Sarah Lewis noticed something important about an artist she was studying: Not every artwork was a total masterpiece. She asks us to consider the role of the almost-failure, the near win, in our own lives. In our pursuit of success and mastery, is it actually our near wins that push us forward?

TED: Matthew Carter: My life in typefaces - Matthew Carter (2014)

Pick up a book, magazine or screen, and more than likely you'll come across some typography designed by Matthew Carter. In this charming talk, the man behind typefaces such as Verdana, Georgia and Bell Centennial (designed just for phone books -- remember them?), takes us on a spin through a career focused on the very last pixel of each letter of a font.
