Yes I did have kids this year in a old family consumer science kitchen. Our commercial kitchen opens this Fall. That was the hardest part leaving TCA with all the great equipment and going a year on electric, but I knew I was getting brand new eventually so it is worth the wait. Drinks are on me this summer. Yes, Steve does have an advantage with the way he is allowed to run his program. My CATE director would never agree to it and has put some limitations on me. We may be getting a Mobile Catering vehicle donated by a local entrepreneur that owns a company call www. SnappySnacksMobileCatering.com to teach and run as a small business. Have a great summer and look forward to becoming friends and colleagues.
I have been gone a year and just finished Region 13 certification. I will be at all three events - TRA Summer Conference, Expo, and Family Consumer Science Conference. I am excited, but it was a long year and completely different than college. I have a lot to learn and would love to bounce some idea off you. We are opening our new commercial kitchen as we speak. Look forward to seeing you, networking, learning, sharing, and becoming friends. You and Steve are leaders in the industry and would love to have you as a mentor as I transition and build my program. Culinary Regards!

Perhaps you’ve punched out a paper doll or folded an origami swan? TED Fellow Manu Prakash and his team have created a microscope made of paper that's just as easy to fold and use. A sparkling demo that shows how this invention could revolutionize healthcare in developing countries … and turn almost anything into a fun, hands-on science experiment.
Vending machines generally offer up sodas, candy bars and chips. Not so for the one created by TED Fellow Gabe Barcia-Colombo. This artist has dreamed up a DNA Vending Machine, which dispenses extracted human DNA, packaged in a vial along with a collectible photo of the person who gave it. It’s charming and quirky, but points out larger ethical issues that will arise as access to biotechnology increases.
Privacy researcher Christopher Soghoian sees the landscape of government surveillance shifting beneath our feet, as an industry grows to support monitoring programs. Through private companies, he says, governments are buying technology with the capacity to break into computers, steal documents and monitor activity — without detection. This TED Fellow gives an unsettling look at what's to come.
What does the future of business look like? In an informative talk, Philip Evans gives a quick primer on two long-standing theories in strategy -- and explains why he thinks they are essentially invalid.
