I collected my first barrel of Used Cooking Oil (UCO) in 1996, but I'm no UCO expert. What I do know is that it currently has value as feedstock for Biodiesel Production. It may be a waste-stream, not an income stream for most restaurants, but you should be able to negotiate with licensed haulers for discounted collection rates in most markets. Large generators get paid for UCO in others . To reduce air pollution & support Renewable Energy, consider directing it to a licensed, professional Biodiesel producer.
Welcome to FohBoh! This is a wonderful online restaurant community with lots of great postings. Enjoy the site and keep active with pictures, comments and postings. I am sure that some of the other members would love to learn the best way to recycle cooking oil. I know I'll be watching your posts.
Great to have you on FohBoh. Just spoke with one of members on the East Coast, Marcus Guiliano, with whom you might have much in common. He's the owner/chef of a 25 point Zagat rated restaurant that specializes in green cuisine. Check him out!
