3rd Blog on the Meta-Physical Principles of Running a Restaurant

Posted on July 12, 2008 at 11:14pm 0 Comments

The 3rd Principle is UNITY

The world teaches us to look after ourselves first - and it is important to look after our health, etc - so we have something to offer the world.

However, in business, the way to real riches, peace prosperity, harmony, etc is through UNITY.

UNITY means THINKING FOR THE GROUP once one has established the other principles in consciousness.

As you establish each principle in consciousness a chain reaction takes place in the… Continue

Applied Meta-Physics

Applied Meta-Physics, simply put, is the Science of Being and Knowing; the Science of Making the Ideal Real.

Now almost everyone knows that our ideals are often far ahead of our achievements - so Applied Meta-Physics deals with developing a clear understanding of ideas and their legitimate expression.

The Science of Meta-Physics correctly used develops one's understanding creating the necessary clarity of thought that enables one to manifest… Continue

What a week!

Posted on April 29, 2008 at 11:10am 1 Comment

Well I had intended to start the Meta-Physical posts on running a restaurant when I was asked to help remodel one of Johannesburg's most popular restaurants - the catch? we had to close, strip, and remodel in just 6 1/2 days...

The schedule was non negotiable - as the 90 seater restaurant serves up to (and often over) 200 meals an hour during peak times. The loss of income should the restaurant not re-open on time would have been enormous.

As Applied Meta-Physics is the… Continue

Food businesses failing...

Posted on April 16, 2008 at 7:02am 5 Comments

Browsing fohboh I see that there is a really strong accent on 'making money' and while this is the purpose of the food 'business' I have always used a very different approach.

As a student and teacher of Applied Meta-Physics I have always looked to the 'inner workings' of the mind and of the food business to understand how it works.

Now what this approach has taught me is that the food business is really simple - but only when approached in a simple way and with the right… Continue

Well, my web site is under reconstruction at the moment, so I thought I would use this opportunity to introduce myself to fellow FohBoh members. I call myself a food service consultant - but with a twist - I am a student and Teacher of Applied Meta-Physics (The Science of Be-ing and Knowing) and have over 32 years of experience in almost every type of food service establishment.

I am also a Vegetarian - in transition to becoming Vegan - I run a Food Service Consulting company called… Continue

Thanks for the invite Andy... I am browsing around getting familiar with the site and seeing where I can participate. After 32 years in this profession and through studying Meta-Physics I use an approach that emphasises on re-creating circumstances and teaching skills - rather than in 'training' in the usual way and trying to 'fix' things by patching them... so we shall see where it leads. It's all about the people - every system we create must serve the people, but too often the people are made slave to the system!

TED TALKS VIDEO

TED: Hamish Jolly: A shark-deterrent wetsuit (and it's not what you think) - Hamish Jolly (2013)

Hamish Jolly, an ocean swimmer in Australia, wanted a wetsuit that would deter a curious shark from mistaking him for a potential source of nourishment. (Which, statistically, is rare, but certainly a fate worth avoiding.) Working with a team of scientists, he and his friends came up with a fresh approach — not a shark cage, not a suit of chain-mail, but a sleek suit that taps our growing understanding of shark vision.

TED: Michel Laberge: How synchronized hammer strikes could generate nuclear fusion - Michel Laberge (2014)

Our energy future depends on nuclear fusion, says Michel Laberge. The plasma physicist runs a small company with a big idea for a new type of nuclear reactor that could produce clean, cheap energy. His secret recipe? High speeds, scorching temperatures and crushing pressure. In this hopeful talk, he explains how nuclear fusion might be just around the corner.

TED: Sarah Lewis: Embrace the near win - Sarah Lewis (2014)

At her first museum job, art historian Sarah Lewis noticed something important about an artist she was studying: Not every artwork was a total masterpiece. She asks us to consider the role of the almost-failure, the near win, in our own lives. In our pursuit of success and mastery, is it actually our near wins that push us forward?

TED: Matthew Carter: My life in typefaces - Matthew Carter (2014)

Pick up a book, magazine or screen, and more than likely you'll come across some typography designed by Matthew Carter. In this charming talk, the man behind typefaces such as Verdana, Georgia and Bell Centennial (designed just for phone books -- remember them?), takes us on a spin through a career focused on the very last pixel of each letter of a font.
