Biography
I've enjoyed cooking for as long as I can remember. And after a few other careers, my life has come full circle to what I love to do the most-cook!
Now I'm able to help people return to their dinner tables at home. Helping them slow down and enjoy some great food.
My new adventure with my personal chef business is to get kids into the kitchen. I always love a new challenge and am looking forward to the rewards I'll recieve as I teach these new culinary prospects.

More children's menu choices please!

Posted on August 25, 2008 at 3:30pm 4 Comments

As a strong advocate for teaching children to eat healthy and make better food choices I've started kids cooking classes through my company. I'm not only teaching important kitchen skills but giving these children an opportunity to prepare what they are about to eat. This helps to break the barriers that many children and their parents have when it comes to foods that the children will eat. I'm a firm believer that the more varieties of food we expose even our younger children to, the more… Continue

Been away for to long. When business gets busy things fall to the way side. But I'm keeping in mind that the community here is a great resource and outlet for our industry. I'm working on ideas again and look forward to being a more involved part of this community once more!

Hi Lynn, my business is picking up a little now after a pretty slow summer. It's all marketing, marketing, marketing. I've taken to providing some free cooking classes to get my name out to more potential clients. It's not too expensive and can be a lot of fun for everyone.

I helped with an after school club for 4th and 5th graders. We used on old 'teen living' classroom and each week for 8 weeks my daughter (5th grade at the time) and I taught them how to make a meal, set a table, kitchen sanitation, the importance of sitting down as a family or friends. We had a lot of fun. We even made up a club design/ logo and printed it on White aprons I bought at Sam's Club. They thought it was more cool then t-shirts and the guys loved it even more then the girls!

TED TALKS VIDEO

TED: Jeremy Kasdin: The flower-shaped starshade that might help us detect Earth-like planets - Jeremy Kasdin (2014)

Astronomers believe that every star in the galaxy has a planet, one fifth of which might harbor life. Only we haven't seen any of them -- yet. Jeremy Kasdin and his team are looking to change that with the design and engineering of an extraordinary piece of equipment: a flower petal-shaped "starshade" that allows a telescope to photograph planets from 50,000 kilometers away. It is, he says, the "coolest possible science."

TED: Norman Spack: How I help transgender teens become who they want to be - Norman Spack (2013)

Puberty is an awkward time for just about everybody, but for transgender teens it can be a nightmare, as they grow overnight into bodies they aren't comfortable with. In a heartfelt talk, endocrinologist Norman Spack tells a personal story of how he became one of the few doctors in the US to treat minors with hormone replacement therapy. By staving off the effects of puberty, Spack gives trans teens the time they need. (Filmed at TEDxBeaconStreet.)

TED: Jennifer Senior: For parents, happiness is a very high bar - Jennifer Senior (2014)

The parenting section of the bookstore is overwhelming—it's "a giant, candy-colored monument to our collective panic," as writer Jennifer Senior puts it. Why is parenthood filled with so much anxiety? Because the goal of modern, middle-class parents—to raise happy children—is so elusive. In this honest talk, she offers some kinder and more achievable aims.

TED: David Brooks: Should you live for your résumé ... or your eulogy? - David Brooks (2014)

Within each of us are two selves, suggests David Brooks in this meditative short talk: the self who craves success, who builds a résumé, and the self who seeks connection, community, love -- the values that make for a great eulogy. (Joseph Soloveitchik has called these selves "Adam I" and "Adam II.") Brooks asks: Can we balance these two selves?
