Congratulations Shakespeare's

Posted on November 21, 2010 at 7:30am 1 Comment

I want to take time to congratulate and recognize Shakespeare's Piza in Columbia, Missouri, for winning "Good Morning America's" Best College Hangout Challenge !

Shakespeare's has pizza , like no other, and it's the atmosphere and the people at Shakespeare's that makes it so

special.

Shakespeare's is across the street from the University of Missouri-Columbia, about three blocks from Columbia College (where I graduated), and around the corner from where I…

Pepsi Generation now Part of Social Media Generation

Posted on February 16, 2010 at 11:30am 2 Comments

Growing up, I remember the commercials that Pepsi Cola would play. Many had the slogan "The Pepsi Generation."

I heard that Pepsi decided against paying 20 million dollars to NBC for

a Super Bowl commercial, rather, they ar looking to invest a good chunk of that money into Social media and a creative Social Media campaign.

I found this out, quite by accident, by looking thru some blogs.

If i didn't have my own creative way of finding information, I probably never… Continue

Party of Two.. Your "Bed" is Ready

Posted on February 10, 2010 at 7:46pm 3 Comments

Well, I hope the headline has gotten your attention !

I just saw a news report about a new style of restaurant :

"Apartment Living Restaurant" , in Jakarta, Indonesia.

I thought it was an extraordinary idea, and perhaps one that will make its

way to the good ole USA, if it hasn't already.

The restaurant is set up like an apartment. You can have your food

in a king size bed, in a bathtub, even in a laundry room or pantry !

If you wish to relax… Continue

Even "Sweethearts" Have Joined Social Media

Posted on January 24, 2010 at 5:03am 0 Comments

You've heard of "sweethearts" , I'm sure. They're the heart shaped candy with different phrases on them, that come out each year before Valentine's

Day. We all got them in school. The pastel colored candy with "kiss me" "be mine" and "be true" , among others.

The "sweethearts" were developed by the New England Confectionery Company, a company that is over 140 years old. This was the first company to print sayings on candy.

Fast forward to 2010, and thanks to an… Continue

Burger King : Have it Your Way...with a Beer Chaser

Posted on January 23, 2010 at 7:48pm 4 Comments

I heard on the news tonight (Saturday) that Burger King (yes, THAT one , home of the Whopper) is planning to open a 24 hour eatery in Miami's South Beach.

Nothing unusual about that, but this one will be offering ice cold beer.

The scheduled opening date is in February.

From some reading and research, I have discovered that "South Beach" is

entering a burger phase, There are several "joints" that offer the gourmet burger, but I guess, Burger King wants to get in… Continue

I am trying to find a marketing contact within Pepsico and since you seem to be, at minimum, a Pepsi affectionado, I was wondering if you might have any information in regards to this. I would like to use pepsi logos, etc. on my online ordering site (www.oneclickdiner.com) for restaurants who feature Pepsi products.

TED TALKS VIDEO

TED: Norman Spack: How I help transgender teens become who they want to be - Norman Spack (2013)

Puberty is an awkward time for just about everybody, but for transgender teens it can be a nightmare, as they grow overnight into bodies they aren't comfortable with. In a heartfelt talk, endocrinologist Norman Spack tells a personal story of how he became one of the few doctors in the US to treat minors with hormone replacement therapy. By staving off the effects of puberty, Spack gives trans teens the time they need. (Filmed at TEDxBeaconStreet.)

TED: Jennifer Senior: For parents, happiness is a very high bar - Jennifer Senior (2014)

The parenting section of the bookstore is overwhelming—it's "a giant, candy-colored monument to our collective panic," as writer Jennifer Senior puts it. Why is parenthood filled with so much anxiety? Because the goal of modern, middle-class parents—to raise happy children—is so elusive. In this honest talk, she offers some kinder and more achievable aims.

TED: David Brooks: Should you live for your résumé ... or your eulogy? - David Brooks (2014)

Within each of us are two selves, suggests David Brooks in this meditative short talk: the self who craves success, who builds a résumé, and the self who seeks connection, community, love -- the values that make for a great eulogy. (Joseph Soloveitchik has called these selves "Adam I" and "Adam II.") Brooks asks: Can we balance these two selves?

TED: David Sengeh: The sore problem of prosthetic limbs - David Sengeh (2014)

What drove David Sengeh to create a more comfortable prosthetic limb? He grew up in Sierra Leone, and too many of the people he loves are missing limbs after the brutal civil war there. When he noticed that people who had prosthetics weren’t actually wearing them, the TED Fellow set out to discover why — and to solve the problem with his team from the MIT Media Lab.
