Hi All!I have 2 more classes to go to finish my BA in Organizational Mgt & a Minor in Marketing. I thought this would embellish all my F&B experience. I could use some help in finding a position or maybe expanding my education to a Master's degree in Hospitality. I'm not getting any younger!!! Any help or ideas would be appreciated!~KatSee More

Kathy, Last February I posted about the glove dilemma. Please read: Gloves VS. Bare Hands Many millions, perhaps billions, of protective gloves are thrown away, and seldom does one see any attention paid to the situation.

Hi Everyone! Long time. I am still unemployed, but still back in school. I am finally taking another class that I can incorporate my chosen field into. So, I am turning to my industry leader friends for some thoughts and quotes for my first paper in this class. I am interested in the various ways that you recycle. Does anyone recycle cooking oil forbiodiesel? Is there anything that seems hard to recycle? Thanks in advance for your insights.KatSee More

Biography
I have tended bar throughout my adult life. My beginnings came when I was 7 or 8. My brother got to be the bartender for my Grandmother's 7oth birthday party. I was envious, so my brother told me I could be the barmitzvah. He gave me a tray and told me to go take a drink to our Uncle Donny. Uncle Donny gave me a quarter as a tip & I was hooked!

I have worked in all aspects of FOH service from fine dining to casual & banquets I have experienced in sales, coordination, set-up and serving.

I maintained a popular website (http://cocktails.about.com) for 8 years with a focus on spirits, beer, cocktails, personal and professional bartending, and entertaining. Eventually this content will be placed on bargoddess.com.

I am also an author ("Bartender's Guide" - New Holland Publishing, 2005 - ISBN: 184330869X). I was a contributing expert for "The Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook: Dating & Sex" (How to Deal with a Drunken Date & How to Sober Up Fast) - Chronicle Books, 2001 - ISBN: 0811832414. I have been quoted in publications such as, Pittsburg Post-Gazette, Sandusky Register, Pittsburgh Tribune Review, The Denver Post, Bar & Nightclub Magazine, and many others...

I also have a great deal of experience in advertising management, outside sales for print and cable ad sales.

I have participated in a few seminars and presentations. Home Bar 101 at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Orlando, FL on Sept. 14, 2005 was made possible in conjunction with The Museum of the American Cocktail. I attended Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans, LA in 2003 & 2004 as a media guest. I was invited back in 2005 & 2006 as an author. I presented "Cocktails" for "The Red Ball" at The Luxor in Las Vegas, October, 1999.

I am currently seeking my BA degree, in hopes of furthering my career.

Just curious here... What would you call an Expiditer? Is that person FOB, or BOH if they actually deliver to the tables and work with the kitchen? I used "M" for "Middle". Any ideas or thoughts? Can we coin this?

@ Kat,

Wow! Where do I begin?
You certainly seem to be a well-rounded and self-assured individual,
and did I mention, I never argue with a young lady that knows her way around a Harley :)

But seriously,
you are definitely moving forward, and even if things are a little scattered in your life, and you're not quite sure of the direction you should take, you are still building your value in several areas.
I am confident that you can do pretty much whatever you set your mind to, and I have no doubt you will succeed.

Don't underestimate yourself. You may be presently unemployed, but you a long way from the bottom.

Keep your head up, your faith strong, and your eyes fixed on your next achievement.
Best wishes,
Bill
