Touched by his Pain

Posted on December 10, 2008 at 8:39am 1 Comment

I am sure that many (if not all) of you watched in horror earlier this week as fiery images from an F-16 jet crash into a San Diego neighborhood dominated the public airwaves. I was touched this morning by the pain of the very brave man who lost his family and home while he was away at work.

While trying to choke back the tears, he explained that he had lost his wife, 2 daughters and his mother-in-law (who had been brought from Korea to help his wife take care of his daughters) while he… Continue

Tapping into American "Tween" Dollars

Posted on December 3, 2008 at 2:30pm 4 Comments

American 'tweens' spend billions of their own dollars on purchases for themselves and carry major influence on family purchase decisions. How best then to market to this internet savy group? It is important to understand some generalities when planning to attract their attention online.

1. 'Tweens jump around. They do not spend all of their time in one environment, but do spend alot of time on the internet. You need to be where they most often are.

2. They want a voice. When… Continue

Marketing to Kids 6-11 ~ Caring for the Planet

Posted on November 18, 2008 at 11:21am 0 Comments

A recent study by Just Kid, Inc. reveals that children from ages 6-11 (from all socio-economic backgrounds) have a profound belief that they can and must make a difference in the environment. Six hundered young people were given a 15-minute online questionnaire.

58% of these children said they would buy a product that gave part of the profit to save baby tigers. An overwhelming 80% wanted to get involved in protecting endangered species and help create safe places for them to… Continue

"It's a Beautiful Day" ~ Thank You!

Posted on November 5, 2008 at 7:22am 7 Comments

To all of you who participated in the voting process, I thank you. You turned out in the millions ~ more participation than in the last 100 years. As a "boomer" how proud I am to see voters from every walk of life come together and peacefully cast their vote. Some of you stood hours in polling places and after in Grant Park (Chicago), New York, Atlanta the list is as endless as the optimism it invoked.

I have seen many elections and hard choices are always made, but yesterday your…

"Don't Sweat the Small Stuff," or Remembering what's Important

Posted on October 24, 2008 at 2:09pm 0 Comments

I have had a great deal of fun with my last blog (engaging others must be a passion for all of us here), but politics often wears me out. Though politics and world affairs are extremely important for most of us the important elements of life are right at our fingertips. These are the things we will remember long after the political characters have retired to their beach chairs. To help me remember what's important (and to make me smile) I turn to one… Continue
