"Seth Godin argues the Internet has ended mass marketing and revived a human social unit from the distant past: tribes. Founded on shared ideas and values, tribes give ordinary people the power to lead and make big change. He urges us to do so. "

Is your business cultivating a tribal connection? We wear the symbols of tribal membership – like the BMW emblem on our cars, the image printed on the…See More

Innovation Begins with Observation! Wild New Concepts!

Have you noticed how we really eat today?

How are you responding?

Americans have become quite unorthodox about how, where, and when they eat. According to the Culinary Institute of America, a full 19% of all meals and snacks are eaten in the car. We don’t live in Mayberry anymore; we really eat while watching television, “shopping” the refrigerator, refueling with ready-to-eat dishes (often eaten in the supermarket), dropping in at Starbucks for taste bud… Continue

Tracks Brewing Company is in its 8th year. Were looking for someone to join our company in a kitchen managing partner capacity. The state of Utah has just passed legislation removing one of the strangest laws on the books. That being the Private Club Law causing all bars to be private. This presents a great opportunity for us to finally become what we set out to be. A Restaurant Brewery by day and Sports Bar Night Club by night. Were in a very strong and emerging market with 4 new restaurants opening in the last 10 months.
Tracks Brewing Company is a design build, with high volume capabilities.
Please visit our website www.tracksbrewing.com
We would love to find someone to finish the restaurant concept and take Tracks Brewing Company to the next level preparing us for franchising. Our concept will work in several local markets, we would require multi unit experience.

Cheers,

David, thanks for taking the time to read my "foodie" article and posting a comment. Couldn't agree more that marketers are big on "naming" us based on our spending habits.

Hi, David! I am thinking of doing what you suggest! I teach a course in restaurant development each fall in which teams of students come up with concepts, develop detailed marketing, financial, and facilities plans, and in the end attempt to attract imaginary investment capital from each other and from a panel of industry advisors. The amount of capital they attract is a component of their grade, so it's as "real world" as we can get it. Three teams from former years have moved forward with their concepts: one has been open for about a year (with a second unit under construction), one is in the process of opening right now in Maryland (www.punksbackyardgrill.com), and a third is just getting off the ground. Pretty cool!

Maybe some FohBoh users would like to serve as informal mentors to the student teams -- are you game? It would be a great experience for both sides, I think!

Unfortunately, I won't make it to LV next week, I will be sweating in Miami for the Taste of the Nation event there instead. Can you post the LV meet-up on the CIA group page?

Hi David: What projects are you working on, RTE?
Find some one to buy Chili-Up. It's got legs. I didn't know your friend works for Nieman Ranch. We use their pork, and beef products. We are always looking for new business. Hows the family doing? Is the house finished yet? Whens the party?
