This is part one of a two part post (to much to cover in one post with out everyone falling asleep) on how your restaurant can reduce its electricity usage and cost by looking at your lighting.

First, let’s take a look at where we are using electricity. Most restaurants use gas for cooking and heating and electricity for lighting, ventilation/air-conditioning, refrigeration, and running computers and other miscellaneous items; with lighting and cooling consuming the most… Continue

Hey,
Thank you very much for replying to me. I actually just started school this morning and I absolutely loved it.I thought I might not enjoy it to much because it was at 7:30am which is pretty early but I just really had fun learning about culinary so it made it really fun. I am majoring in culinary arts management at the art institute of atlanta because Im pretty much on my own and couldnt really afford to go anywhere out of state but it still is a good school. So during school I plan to just brainstorm about what type of restaurant would be most successful and think of some business plans and just try to establish myself around successful people. But I just wanted to thank you for the advice and I am gonna go check out that web site and any more advice you have for me I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Thanks Craig - I did a whole issue with a green theme late last year - product information plus a large story on what operators are doing to be more eco-friendly. I'm working on a freelance piece now that will be about restaurants and foodservice operations complying with LEED for Commercial Interiors - if you know of any that are I'd like to know!

Hi Mr. Neubecker,
My name is Anthony Harris and I am currently a student and trying to get into either the Culinary Institute of America or well any other prestigious culinary school to learn as much as I can about the industry. But I noticed that you are a restaurant owner and I will be majoring in culinary management and actually hope to own a restaurant myself one day so I was wandering if you had any type of advice for me as far as school or any business information that would help. Thank you.
