Archaeology and geology provide amazing perspective on our past. Nearly everyone in today's society is familiar with the idea of evolution; the slow mutation and development of species, talents, physical characteristics. We are also familiar with all of the theories about the mass extinction of the dinosaurs at the end of the Cretacious Period. We have massive evidence of dinosaur life underneath the KT boundary; above this layer, however, they simply cease to exist.

A question we are all asking, or at least should be! We are where we are, as scary and uncertain as it is; what's more uncomfortable, is that we all have to own the actions that got us where we are as an industry...substandard operations, indifferent service, and no appreciation for the guests who choose to walk through our doors (or choose not to!) every day.

In the current economic climate, we are all scratching and clawing for every guest, every great employee, and every dime of profit. For a group that is as historically competitive as Restaurant Managers, this can be an incredibly divisive era. Just like many of you, I have become "trapped" within my own four walls; I am focused on fixing, growing, and maintaining my own business, and wish the best of luck to everyone else.
