Biography
My name is Brie. I am a provider of Point-of-Sale software and hardware. I discovered FohBoh, and wanted to try it as a place to meet new people. I don't want to just do business on here I have worked in the restaurant industry for five years, and find that the best people are in foodservice. Feel free to ask me anything or just drop me a line.

A little about my company. I work with Restaurant Computer Systems out of Houston, Tx. We are a dealer of the Focus brand of POS. We sell a product that is truly like no other. With our completely customizable design, you get to purchase a product made for your restaurant. I LOVE my company, and our product. I truly believe that it is the best thing on the market, and we are very affordable. We often beat many of our top competitor's price. I would love to speak with anyone regarding a new POS system, or answer any questions that you might have. Check out our website for more information.

Web Cast Demos

Posted on January 25, 2008 at 11:18am 2 Comments

I would like to ask the FohBoh community if a new marketing strategy I would like to try is a good idea. I am thinking about providing online interactive demonstrations of our product. I think that it would allow customers a chance to view the product without feeling the pressure of a sales person sitting in their face. What is your opinion about this. Would anyone here be interested in participating? I just need to know if it would be easier for restaurant and bar owners to see a demonstration… Continue

Not all Point-of-Sale Systems are the Same

Posted on January 8, 2008 at 2:04pm 1 Comment

Of course everyone can tell I do ALOT of cold calling, and 90% of it is to restaurants (The other 10% being to retail establishments). Although I find restaurant owners to be the nicest people in the world (when you visit after 2PM and before 5PM), but in my opinion they are the hardest people to market to. My goal for the New Year is to increase my closing ratio, so if you don't mind I am going to use FohBoh as a sounding board as my soap box. Maybe you guys can help me figure out where my…

Wireless POS? Is it a Possiblity?

Posted on January 7, 2008 at 9:45am 5 Comments

I have never written any type of blog before, but I am going to try to entertain you. Please leave all comments and questions that you might have.

I have so many people ask me on a daily basis for a wireless system that I would like to explain from a POS developers view, why wireless is just so hard to come by. Everyone knows that in Europe most systems are wireless. Servers are able to carry small handheld units that allow them to input orders, take payments, add kitchen comments,…

I wanted to personally invite you to join our discussions in regards to cheeses at the Cheese Group on FohBoh. Every week we introduce a new cheese and invite you to find it in your area, buy it, try it and then dicuss it with us. We could use someone like yourself who could give us some good, positive feedback.

I'm with you, some of the nicest people I've met work with food. Not just in restaurants, but lots of different areas too.

Thanks for getting in touch. Interesting who is on fohboh. Would love to talk some time ... I'm aware of Focus POS, but haven't ever seen its labor scheduling system (I know it has one). My guess is that this is a two-way street. BTW: On my computer, few of the links work on your website (software and solutions).

TED TALKS VIDEO

TED: Jeremy Kasdin: The flower-shaped starshade that might help us detect Earth-like planets - Jeremy Kasdin (2014)

Astronomers believe that every star in the galaxy has a planet, one fifth of which might harbor life. Only we haven't seen any of them -- yet. Jeremy Kasdin and his team are looking to change that with the design and engineering of an extraordinary piece of equipment: a flower petal-shaped "starshade" that allows a telescope to photograph planets from 50,000 kilometers away. It is, he says, the "coolest possible science."

TED: Norman Spack: How I help transgender teens become who they want to be - Norman Spack (2013)

Puberty is an awkward time for just about everybody, but for transgender teens it can be a nightmare, as they grow overnight into bodies they aren't comfortable with. In a heartfelt talk, endocrinologist Norman Spack tells a personal story of how he became one of the few doctors in the US to treat minors with hormone replacement therapy. By staving off the effects of puberty, Spack gives trans teens the time they need. (Filmed at TEDxBeaconStreet.)

TED: Jennifer Senior: For parents, happiness is a very high bar - Jennifer Senior (2014)

The parenting section of the bookstore is overwhelming—it's "a giant, candy-colored monument to our collective panic," as writer Jennifer Senior puts it. Why is parenthood filled with so much anxiety? Because the goal of modern, middle-class parents—to raise happy children—is so elusive. In this honest talk, she offers some kinder and more achievable aims.

TED: David Brooks: Should you live for your résumé ... or your eulogy? - David Brooks (2014)

Within each of us are two selves, suggests David Brooks in this meditative short talk: the self who craves success, who builds a résumé, and the self who seeks connection, community, love -- the values that make for a great eulogy. (Joseph Soloveitchik has called these selves "Adam I" and "Adam II.") Brooks asks: Can we balance these two selves?
