Biography
I've been in the industry for a very long time off and on. Right now I'm a bartender. Was in the mortgage industry for the last 5 years but need I say more????? Good thing one can fall back on what one has done before. I opened 11 Hooter Restaurants in 11 years back in the day and have owned a few concession stands in my past. Looking forward to a great year in 2008.

My saying is "I will workout for food"

I absolutely love to cook and entertain. Breaking bread with good friends is on the top of my list of favorite things to do.

Hello fellow FohBoh's...

Angela here, coming at you live from Las Vegas. Watch for great things to come from Sin City. We've got it all here. I just relocated to Vegas to promote FohBoh. If any of you wonderful people are headed this way let me know and we'll hook up and have a smashing time. I have to warn you though. I love to take pictures of the evening events. Food, fun and friendship. It doesn't get any better than that. Who on FohBoh has been to this exciting city that never…

What's worked for you?

Posted on January 10, 2008 at 6:39am 0 Comments

Hey there FohBoh knights. Got a quick question for you all. I wanted you guys to share ideas that have worked for you. What I mean is we've all done some crazy things in our life and what we might not be doing now but have tried in the past might work for one of us now. Here's a little example of some things I've done. I had a soup business for a short period, Was cooking out of my house ( I know) bad move and illegal but anyway, I wanted to try something and see if it worked. So, with that…

In the publics eye.

Have you ever worked for a boss that had no tact? I have. To be reprimanded in public is to say the least, the worst. It happened to to me a few times in my life and being 44 that's not too bad. Coming from a Sicilian background I probably didn't handle it too well. lol

At least I didn't invite my boss to go on a hunting trip with me and my dad! The woods can be very thick.....Think I'm kidding?

Anyway, I've had my go-arounds with the best. I don't see it that much though…

Happy Hour Marketing

Posted on January 6, 2008 at 10:59am 6 Comments

This is a tried, tested and true marketing plan that I put into use when working for a big night club called Baja Beach Club in Orlando Florida. It can work for smaller clubs too.

When we had our grand opening we had the guest fill out a card that read "Win a free Party". On that card we asked for their name, work phone and email address. That was it, nothing more. Within a couple of weeks we started marketing our Host parties. I had a team of employees who would call each…

I have always felt if you can make it in Vegas, you can make it anywhere. If I had moved there right after Culinary School, I think that I would still be there. But I went to Seattle and Portland and it's not too far from the beach! Great postings! Take care

TED TALKS VIDEO

TED: Norman Spack: How I help transgender teens become who they want to be - Norman Spack (2013)

Puberty is an awkward time for just about everybody, but for transgender teens it can be a nightmare, as they grow overnight into bodies they aren't comfortable with. In a heartfelt talk, endocrinologist Norman Spack tells a personal story of how he became one of the few doctors in the US to treat minors with hormone replacement therapy. By staving off the effects of puberty, Spack gives trans teens the time they need. (Filmed at TEDxBeaconStreet.)

TED: Jennifer Senior: For parents, happiness is a very high bar - Jennifer Senior (2014)

The parenting section of the bookstore is overwhelming—it's "a giant, candy-colored monument to our collective panic," as writer Jennifer Senior puts it. Why is parenthood filled with so much anxiety? Because the goal of modern, middle-class parents—to raise happy children—is so elusive. In this honest talk, she offers some kinder and more achievable aims.

TED: David Brooks: Should you live for your résumé ... or your eulogy? - David Brooks (2014)

Within each of us are two selves, suggests David Brooks in this meditative short talk: the self who craves success, who builds a résumé, and the self who seeks connection, community, love -- the values that make for a great eulogy. (Joseph Soloveitchik has called these selves "Adam I" and "Adam II.") Brooks asks: Can we balance these two selves?

TED: David Sengeh: The sore problem of prosthetic limbs - David Sengeh (2014)

What drove David Sengeh to create a more comfortable prosthetic limb? He grew up in Sierra Leone, and too many of the people he loves are missing limbs after the brutal civil war there. When he noticed that people who had prosthetics weren’t actually wearing them, the TED Fellow set out to discover why — and to solve the problem with his team from the MIT Media Lab.
