Biography
SaucyRubs, LLC was launched in early 2008 by Adam R. Cox in Portland Oregon. It has always been a dream of Adam’s to get into the food business and share his passion with others. From an early age Adam was always in the kitchen (or BBQ) with his family (including Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents).

BBQing’ steaks, fish & chicken out on the family BBQ or whipping up pancakes at the cabin in the morning Adam always was into cooking. This progressed into being a Grill cook in Yellowstone& Teton National Parks for three summers and working through college @ the University of Montana food service.

Finding his passion was in food, Adam went to Western Culinary Institute in Portland, OR. After graduation he worked at the Four Seasons Olympic Hotel in Seattle, helped open Skamania Lodge in Stevenson, WA and Shilo Inns in Yuma, AZ.

During this time and after his venture into the Technology field, he never lost his creativity and kept trying new foods, flavors and ingredients.

During a 2006 BBQ class with Paul Kirk, he realized that combining spices for the backyard BBQ was a great combination of his skills and he wanted to share it with everyone. During the class his team “3 men and a smoker” won 3rd place for both Ribs and Chicken. In 2008 he came back and won with his team “Butt smugglers” 1st in Brisket, 2nd in Pork Butt, 4th in Chicken and 8th in Ribs while taking 2nd overall as Reserved Champions!

Adam upped his game with testing and tasting! He puts on an annual event out in the woods for and with all his guy friends. It is there he plays with food and tests out his ideas.

SaucyRubs was cooking slowly as all good ideas during this time. Adam finally decided that using the flavors that are normally not seen on the BBQ market and circuit while combining the basics. Expect good Smokey flavors with a twist, nice tangy citrus with succulent fruit and for those who love heat, expect HOT SPICEY greatness with down home goodness.

Hi Adam -

Hope all is well. I need your advice - I'm looking for a marketing gig in the Seattle area (local store marketing is my specialty). I can see that you are well connected and just wondered if you might have any ideas about who I should contact.

Thanks in advance for your help. Mary

I wanted to personally invite you to join our discussions in regards to cheeses at the Cheese Group on FohBoh. Every week we introduce a new cheese and invite you to find it in your area, buy it, try it and then dicuss it with us. We could use someone like yourself who could give us some good, positive feedback.

Food Handler's Card

FYI: I just re-passed my food handler's card test. I am now valid to touch food for three years. Since I had not been in the industry for awhile, it's good to know that my knowledge is still where it needs to be. I did not even study and I passed!!
