Welcome to another weekend! While I drink wine during the week, I try to open exceptional finds on the weekends...you know, the bottles that you have time to sit back, relax, deductive taste and really enjoy. I'm sure all of you have the "every day" category near by, but I'm interested in hearing about outrageous finds. Last night, I pulled a 97 "Stature" Cabernet (Kendall Jackson top of the line) from my stash. I realize that this bottle cannot be purchased, but if you run into a more current vintage, buy it, you will not be sorry. I hear the Meritage is even better. This wine still had wonderful black fruit with layers of leather, coffee and chocolate. It was spectacular and about at it's peak, although it could go longer!

I also just finished a three day wine competition Friday. I must say, I found a wine from the California central coast that curled my toes. For those who love petite sirah, check out the 05 and 06 Bianchi. This is a fantastic wine that won't break the bank. In fact, I'm digging a lot of their wines right now. Also, try Adobe Road 05 Syrah from Sonoma county, Rosenblum 06 Petite Sirah (Heritage Clones) and Dutcher Crossing 06 Zinfandel (Maple Vineyard). These wines received nice accolades, and again, very affordable. Cheers to all! Drink Wine? Live It!
