Hi Kristen,

One thought when buiding upon to a Teamwork concept and development is to not seperate the back from the front of the house staff's. When you, for instance, have a wine "upselling contest with servers, Pair them up with one member of the kitchen staff ( even utility, dish staff too). Eventually when you are tring to push apps or other promotions you can also do the same.

It is not a great idea to seperate the vareious depts of an operation. It really needs to have a full "TEAM APPROACH" to it. Contests can range from 1 shift, week or even month long. Remember to keep track and post standings etc., say on your kitchen's Special board. All Purveyors can be approached for prizes, sports tickets, foods, wines etc to keep costs down but the company may even contribut a Gift Certificate for staff members to dine out at another of their locations and even review it fort corporate operations. Include cash for the tip too.

Just a few thoughts. Keep everyone involved all the time and switch up the pairings w FOH & BOH teams, regularly. - John

That is such a great idea! I LOVE IT!! Mikkel is actually my bar manager so I hope you are reading this one Mikkel :o)
So we just played a game and paired up everyone with a Boh and Foh associate. It was really hard what we did though. We had the Foh team trying to sell Perfect Portions and the Boh was supposed to cheer on the server, but it was just too busy. What are some suggestions?
Try upselling some apps. Start hitting up your distributors for prizes too. T-Shirts, gift certificates, sports tix etc.

You do n't have to do these contests all one one evening. Try week and monthlong and use an eraseable board to keep stanfdings posted and updated too.

The contests should be geared towards your concept and goals. Mopt guest, positive feedback on FOOD and SERVICE in a week. etc.

YOu 'll have to use your imaginations as I am not particularly familiar with you operation. Good luck and speak to other managers about what they wish to see accomplished. Probably, improving nymbers so work with that and them as well. Include RM and DM's if appropriate.
That should be easy for the front of the house, but how do we involve the back of the house since they don't ever talk to or see the guests. What are some contests that can involve everyone?
I would discuss this with your management team and Chef or Kitchewn manager for the best ideas possible, I think kristen as they all need to be on board to be well and consistently executed. Agree?
Yes! :o)
