Voice of the Restaurant Industry

Hey everyone! I've been learning a lot about the mobile space and how smartphones play into the social media game. I've learned that the mobile web is being pushed forth largely by social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc). People are accessing Twitter from their phones, and visiting websites on their phones, and the problem is websites aren't mobile-friendly.

I was thinking, as it pertains to restaurants, restaurants are local businesses that people are searching on their phones on-the-go. Their tolerance is lower for inaccessible or hard to navigate websites on mobile phones. I think it's safe to assume if someone is searching for two restaurants and one has an easy to use mobile-friendly website (a website built for an iPhone-sized screen), the one with the mobile website will win.

What are your thoughts on having a mobile website for your restaurant? eg. it could have a specials page, location, and the menus... with a focus on ease of navigation and the end-user experience for the mobile web surfer. I'm interested in brainstorming and learning more about your perspectives/questions on this.

Thanks for listening -
