An FYI for those who venture out 24 toward Walnut Creek...don't pass Lafayette if you are anywhere near lunch or dinner time. The new chef, Paul Liao is doing some terrific things to their menu and the latest addition is one of my personal favorites, a new turn on classic foie gras.au torchon. I understand they have briefly removed this from the menu to return within a few days as a terrine. His presentation is outstanding and the foie gras is smooth, buttery and literally melts in the mouth. Served with a small side salad of frisee with shaved black truffles and a very light dressing, pain de mise (white toast without the crust) instead of a brioche and an incredible, edible, and colorful side of small cherries sauteed in Armagnac and you have an app to die for!! They have a great wine list with an excellent variety of by the glass offerings including reds, whites, rosés and bubbles. (Gossett and Billecart among others) Bon Appétit!!
