Restaurant Social Media

I've been building a list of them over the last two years, and it's still a very small number. Not foodie blogs, which are endless, but industry people.

One I discovered last month is Pilu, from a great Italian restaurant. I like it because they stick to photos with just a few words - how easy!

We used blogspot to create a simple site for our restaurant in Brooklyn. Works well and is easy to update.
Nice one Matt - I've added it to my list. Time for a new entry!

Here is a great example in Minneapolis.

Punch Pizza has done a FANTASTIC job of using social and 2.0 tools to further their community online. If you scroll through their blog you'll see them covering happenings in their restaurants, requests for feedback, photo contests via Flickr (combo SM!) and more. They also utilize Facebook.

Content ideas can be a challenge for many, but that is where you need to seek creative types to help layout a calendar of content ideas. A few good ideas can lead to a lot of topics, content and value.
Fantastic example - love the photo competition for customers! I can see how once the creative ideas started flowing, it just keeps going eg box-folding competitions - the best!

Are you the creative brains behind this?
I'm not Ken, but I have blogged about their engagement in social media before.

I have helped a wide variety of small businesses launch blogs and helping them plan topics, content and ideas is a big part of it. I'm hoping that one of my restaurant clients take the plunge with a blog soon. There is a lot they can do with it do deepen their relationships and form new ones. Thanks!
You can check out campusfork.com
They interview restaurant owners on how they started their business.
Interesting concept. Nice site.
Oh yeah, and you can check out Barista Exchange ... the community for coffee bars, baristas, coffee farmers, etc.
My friend Jeff has an awesome blog about cocktails and drink culture too.

I came across to this blog from Contigo restaurant while doing some research about Opentable.com

Here is the post about Opentable from the blog in case you are interested.
Ken,

That's a very well done blog at Pilu, isn't it? Simplicity sells. I have been to far too many that have bells and whistles that distract and drive me away. I'm also not fond of advertising on a blog. I won't take any for my own site.

I would love to see some of the others you've collected.

Thanks.
Hi Paul - Little Red Bike Cafe also do a great job http://blog.littleredbikecafe.com/
