I've been an AT &T Mobile customer before it was even Cingular. I've always been happy with the service and range, except for a few pockets in my neighborhood (where I'm convinced the drug cartel has made it possible to not have cell towers).

But now, just driving through high metro areas where I usually have service, suddenly there are no bars. I mean, come on, it's really nice to know I'd get service in Seoul, Tibet, Mars and that island Richard Branson owns (yes, I exaggerate), but it's not doing much good when I need to make a call in downtown LA. What gives?

Any other AT &T users experiencing this?

Absoluely. Traveled with my wife (she's a truck driver) for awhile. We were in several major metro areas, and couldn't get a signal. With all the satellites and technologies, you'd think there would be a way.

We're in the 24/7 age. Everybody has to keep in touch. Folks panic. for a few minutes, if there's no
cell phone signal or the email/internet server goes down. Part of the culture now. The office might be open from 8 to 5, but the communication cycle keeps going before 8 and after 5.
"Part of the culture now." So true, Keith.

We've come to depend on good cell service in more areas and advertisers are constantly convincing us they can provide this. It's a tall order for AT&T to live up to (and Verizon), but we wouldn't expect if if they didn't promote it so heavily.
