To be memorable, it is no longer enough just to be 'personally branded' or stand in 'brand you', you also need to be authentically and unapologetically you, while positioning your thinking strengths as a value-proposition that meets a premium need in this upended world.

I sooooo agree.......it is when we get away from being "you" that you try to become something else for somebody else and then the politics begin as we chase the approval, beliefs, or recognition of others.

Don't be afraid, focus on your strengths, and everything and everyone else will follow....
Is being "me" the same thing as being a "character"? Because I get that a lot! ;-)
So when people refer me as the "crazy training girl" I know what they are really thinking now!

Somehow I have always been comfortable with that "crazy training girl" title and am actually proud of the fact that I push the envelope, make people hear me, or make points that no one else has thought of.
We must be true to ourselves, and be who we are. Only then will our destinies unfold. Read this classic Fast Company piece... Maybe you've all seen it? The Brand Called You.
Diane super article I hadn't seen it! Thanks for sharing!
I don't believe the "rule breakers" and those "crazy" enough or "genius" enough to change the world are limited to Generation Y. The talent in the talent revolution crosses all generations and enrich our homes, careers and the world.
Right on Debra! Thank goodness I'm totally an X'r!
Debra -

You are so right...I'm way older than Gen X or Gen Y and I've been labeled 'crazy' sometimes but have finally come to see that what I do - my publication, Foodservice East, is me in many ways! - is worth the blood, sweat and tears because I am trying to bring information to readers in an attractive, intelligent way.

This video literally gave me chills! Love it - yes, yes, yes! Some of us have spent our whole lives trying to change the world and are just realizing that the effort is worth every moment of doubt and despair.
