Community Shellfish Farms

Tomales Bay is home to a number of small shellfish farms. They represent an important component of the sustainable farming community yet their collective production of shellfish remains small. A growing interest in shellfish farming has sparked the development of community shellfish farms. Much like community gardens, community shellfish farms offer the opportunity to raise shellfish, learn about oyster biology and participate in the presevervation and protection of coastal habitat.
