There is evidence of new leaders in the hospitality industry being thrown into the deep end and left to either sink or swim. That’s hardly a "best practice”. Let's change the way new managers are cultivated for growth:

CHART will once again be partnering with the National Restaurant Association and the American Hotel & Lodging Association to provide scholarships for highly-qualified students in collegiate hospitality programs. In order to help fund these scholarships, CHART will be conducting our Third Annual Silent Auction at our national conference at the Ritz Carlton in New Orleans this summer (July 24-27).

We need your help in donating auction items to be bid on during the conference. In the spirit of CHART, we need every member to say “I can do that”. Be creative and consider donating goods and services that you know either you or your colleagues would want! Past examples of auction items that were tremendously successful were: fabulous wines, weekend stays at various resorts, hotel certificates, restaurant gift certificates, iPods or other electronics, and CHART Member Speaker donations! Other fantastic items could include; but not be limited to, turning your frequent flyer/renter points into donated gift certificates.

Please contact Patrick Yearout (Patrick@keepclam.com) or Christine San Juan (csanjuan@bertuccis.com) as soon as possible to offer your donation. Thank You!!

NEW ORLEANS CHART CONFERENCE--The service event for our 40th Anniversary is going to be fantastic! We are fortunate to partner with Habitat for Humanity to help build homes in areas still devastated by Hurricane Katrina. You do not need any experience or tools, just your CHART spirit of caring and giving back.
This will be an all day event held on Saturday July 24th ,so please arrange your travel plans to arrive on Friday night
We will meet bright and early at 7am on Saturday morning and return back to the Ritz Carlton after 4pm. Transportation to and from the work site will be provided as well as lunch. There will be a $50 tax deductible donation due to Habitat for Humanity from each volunteer, due on the day of the service event. Your tax deductible donation covers materials and tools needed to build the homes, as well as insurance while on the work site. Significant others and minors aged 16 or older are welcome to join us! Make sure to sign up for the Service Event when you register for the conference. If you have already signed up for the conference, please send me an email to let me know that you will be joining us! (Check out the conference website for more information on Saturday’s Service Event)
If you are interested in helping to sponsor any portion of the service event, please contact Michele Lange at michelelange@aol.com. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone in NOLA! Laissez les bon temps rouler!
