Want a glass of wine fast - ask nicely, say waitresses on three continents

A new documentary following female servers in Canada, France and Japan is offering an inside look into the restaurant world. Dish: Women, Waitressing & the Art of Service is also getting lots of buzz from blogs like Slashfood and The Film Reel.

On May 8 and 9 there will be screenings during Hot Docs, North America's largest documentary film festival, held in Toronto, and the documentary is also available for purchase on DVD for Can$30 (€22.48).

The film, made by Maya Gallus, former waitress and Gemini award-winning director, delves into every kind of dining experience from diners and dives in Montreal and Toronto to fine dining in Paris, even fetish food establishments with the women paid to serve wearing maid outfits in Tokyo, Hooter's uniforms or their birthday suits.

Not sure a documentary is your thing? Think about some of the renowned docs like Mondovino, Super Size Me, and Eat This New York.
