Hourly employees that run social media for their restaurant

Hello...

I'm working on a magazine article about hourly employees that run social media for their food service employers. It may be just posting on their restaurant's Facebook page or it might be running the entire social media campaign. Mom N' Pop, small chians or big corporations. Got any leads I can talk to?

Thanks!

Paul,

Good subject to debate!  I don't see many establishments running this sort of etiquette.  If they do, I wish them the best.  Why?

Facebook pages, etc...these are made to build relationships with customers and communities.  The developing rule of thumb tends to lead towards this scenario:

Whoever does your advertising, GM? is responsible for this scenario.

Yes, involve the employees..under their own profile.

Look at this scenario:

This one isn't "restaurant" but, my point is being responsible for your virtual right arm, Facebook/Twitter.

Social media has many functions.  Branding, marketing, relationship building, customer relation management, etc.  Taking these responsibilities and spreading them through a group of employees who may not be on the same page can spell d i s a s t e r.

I wish you the best of luck, since I don't think enough businesses get their employees involved. I do have two suggestions, if you're still working on your article:

Isaac's(a small-ish sandwich soup chain in the South Central PA area) is undergoing a big social media campaign reform and I think they're trying to get their hourly wait staff involved somehow, including posting. You could try them (and try their facebook page first in contacting them, since they're really good about responding to ppl posting on their wall).

Also, Zappos is known for their employees each having a twitter account and tweeting with their customers

Hope this helps!
