In the world or wine education there are many avenues for learning and accreditation. I start my Diploma Course with WSET this year. Does anyone have experience or advice from their tenure in the Diploma program?
Hey Matt - glad you are starting this year - I am too. I am thinking of working on my diploma thru Copia in Napa, instead of NY. I have attended the first of the WineWise tastings on Sunday. I hope to start attending on a regular basis in March. Are you going to these tasting?
I am looking to take the classes through International Wine Center in NY. Would love to attend the tastings with WineWise but Sunday afternoons couldn't be a worse time for me. Oh well, I see a lot of wine every week anyway. If i get a different wine group together I will let you know.
Matt,
Thanks to Ophelia, this is one of the few places in the country where you can take the course / exam. I'll see what information I have and drop it off for you.
Eric
I am currently still enrolled in the diploma program. I took all my classes at COPIA in Napa. It is very time consuming and you have to stay focused. I have enjoyed the courses and have met some outstanding people. I feel it's well worth the journey, but it's hard work.
Best of luck to you.
I have been participating with a tasting group in Atlanta with members who are pursuing their Diploma in New York, and have just taught my first class for the current Atlanta WSET IC certification class. Can you give me any more information about pursuing a diploma at COPIA - Do you have a good contact at COPIA I could talk to? I have looked at the website, but it has not been very helpful.
They are having major staffing changes at COPIA. I studied under Peter Marks MW and Burke Owens, both of which have moved on to new positions. Please try to contact Leslie Baum at lbaum@copia.org. Andrea Immer has just come aboard as the new wine director, however, I am not sure if she will actually be managing the WSET Program. I hope that helps. Leslie is always very helpful.
