One: We make sure we have choices the kids will eat. If McDonalds taught us anything it's that kids can make the dine-out decisions in the family. BTW-It's probably not what you would feed your kids everyday, but there is a reason they are eating out.
Two: Kids are messy!!!! Be sure your staff is trained that this is OK and part of the job. You might see little Jimmy make a mess of three tables but when Pappa and Mamma bring a 15 top in because Jimmy wants to eat at your place it's all forgiven.
Three: Keep crayons, coloring books, and anything else entertaining in a spot where the kids can get at them themselves. This makes them feel like it's "thier" place.
As a mother of a 4 yr. old boy with Autism I know how difficult it is to eat out. I agree, you should have crayons and coloring papers for kids to keep them occupied. If you could take the childs order ASAP it is helpful for the parents. The less time the child has to wait to eat the better. Traditional kids food on a menu is helpful. French fries are a must and chicken nuggets seem to be a favorite of most kids. Good luck!
