Restaurant Social Media

My partner and I own a small restaurant in the suburbs of Atlanta. We have been open for just over a year and have a very loyal following. After just over a year, we are making a little money (thank goodness).

One of our customers wants to open our format in Florence, SC. He will provide all capital, he wants our help in getting it started.

I have no idea how to implement this process. Suggestions?

Teresa, I can send you a copy of our Franchising issue from July which has some good articles on the subject. Look at our website too in the archives. www.trnusa.com. Our big news is that we are beginning to publish a Georgia edition in March which you can receive for free by sending me your full business name and address. Can be done on my website too. Regards,
Awesome!

Many thanks!
It will go out next week. Be sure to visit the website in the meantime www.trnusa.com
Teresa, did you receive the Franchise issue?
yes I did and it was great! I now have a direction for the restaurant. BTW, when are you planning on publishing a Georgia issue?
Our first issue will be in March 2010 and you are on the mailing list to receive it. Please tell your suppliers that they can advertise with us to reach their potential customers. Let's keep in touch.
Teresa,
Before you do anything, please PLEASE read the E-Myth by Michael Gerber. If by chance you have read it, read it again. This book will help you grasp the "turn-key system" which is what you need if you are looking to franchise or create a chain.

A few questions to consider
1. Do you and your partner have the same values (do you mesh) as your potential financier?
2. Do you have your core values for your restaurant defined and written down?
3. Is your entire business systemized and documented so that it can de easily duplicated?

If you can answer yes to all three of these questions then I think you are on the right track and should consider looking into this opportunity. If you cannot answer yes to all three of these questions I'd caution against this plan.
We'd be happy to provide comments...however, you are not even close to being ready for franchising. Perhaps instead call this a joint venture, or unit number two. We routinely work chain restaurant earnings and economics projects and can give you thoughts.
