Green Restaurant Association
Last week, after joining the association with my own restaurant a year ago, I decided to help the Green Restaurant Association attract more restaurants. Currently, the GRA is the biggest and longest running sustainable restaurant certification in the country. They recently partnered with the New York State Restaurant Association (NYSRA) and also Restaurant Associates. Restaurant Associates runs all of the cafes and restaurants in museums across the US.
To be honest, not enough restaurants are in the association and now it is my goal to get more restaurants involved. If you have a moment, please check out the Green Restaurant Association website . It has done great things for our restaurant and our customers appreciate a well thought out benchmark of sustainability.

The partnership with RA is an important step forward in growing the association. How can those of us in media help? I've done stories that have included quotes from the association and will be doing more in future issues.

The biggest thing is not just getting restaurants involved, but also educating our customers. Right now, I don't think the masses have any idea how to differentiate a green washed restaurant and a legit one.
