I already spoke my mind, this morning, in my blog- I just wondered what my FohBoh friends thought about them- Inquiring minds want to know....
I beleieve it all started with Bocuse D'or in France and the World Culinary Olympics in Germany which sprouted off shoots of competitions in almost every country and region around the world. Without these competitions there would be no reality T.V. culinary competitions. My heart is into authentic culinary competition, why do you have to be a 'star' to compete, it should be open to everyone and anyone to make the team?
The Celebrity Chef concept has distorted the reality of the career path. So many have been duped into rushing to expensive culinary training only to discover that after you graduate you're looking at a $10-$13 per hour starting wage. They go into career shock! It's like the NBA... millions of hopefuls but the reality is slim... very slim.
Culinary Arts are a passion of details and hard work.
