A Win-Win for Equipment/Suppliers and Restaurants

Does anyone have any good examples where the companies who produced equipment/supplies for restaurants benefited from direct interaction with their restaurant clients? What were the benefits to both the suppliers and the restaurants?

Dave,
I think this is a double edge weapon. I mean while working over the dealers you will have lots of new things to do : prospecting more, market studies more targeted , visiting many people, taking care of many payment. This is a very important task.

I think one of the best solution is to create a strong relationship with your dealers. The most important aim in my mind is to help your dealers to sell your products.

And the best way to reach this goal is to know the restaurants owners your dealers are working with. That's why the relationship with your dealer is so important.

This way you will be able to work directly with a restaurant with the help of your dealer. A kind of 3 win (win-win-win) deal.

This is the way I'm working and if rou're interested in I could give you a few tips.

I would think that business development and market studies should be done by the business since it is their business. You have determined your own business objectives and your plans to achieve those objectives. Those objectives may differ from the dealers objectives because they are running a different business.
You also need to deal directly with the customers in order to get greater feedback on their products and develop new opportunities. After all your business, and not the dealers, have the greatest stake in the outcome.

Bruce,

I agree with you. Building your business is the ultimate goal and generating sales volume with successful end users is everyone in the supply chain's goal. Odds are that the dealer the bonding relationship with the customer. In order for a foodservice manufacturer supplier to gain inroads, he must foster a positive relationship with the end user's primary dealer. It usually is win for all parties. Think we ought to get some end users in on the discussion, maybe one of your customers to get their feedback. Everyone must weigh in. Think FOHBOH provides a great forum to foster manufacturer/supplier-dealer-enduser relationships!
Btw, are you guys aware of the FohBoh Distributors / Suppliers Forum?
