Tammy,

If I were you I would most definitely have my non operations partners take a part-time job in a similar restaurant, otherwise the fights I predict you will have will be a major disruption. As the old saying goes two heads are a monster, I can't imagine four. Oh my god, I hope your partners are not your friends.

Hire the best interior designer you can. They aren't very busy these days and prices have come down. Expect $150k for architect and desing. This is a big space and you will likely spend a couple million dolars building it out and launching. If the space is already built than just hire an interior desinger to help select and direct the look unless you have the time and the eye.

Are you talking interior design only, or into graphic and so on?

As a Business Broker, I see many, many Restaurants that have closed because of this kind of difficulty. One in particular was extremely successful for years, in a very affluent area, but imploded due to a very ugly divorce. Three subsequent ownerships failed in quick succession. It sure was not because of the location; it was a direct result of: (1) Bad partnerships and (2) Inexperience. One of those two is difficult to overcome in the Restaurant business. But the combination is a recipe for disaster! (Yes, the levity was intended.) Now that the place is operated by an experienced woman, who is making all of the decisions herself based on that experience, it is once again doing extremely well. Please listen to the previous people in this Discussion Group. They know what they are talking about and they are right!
