According to USA Today ~ many of the last 4 season's finalists have opened up restaurants to highlight the tastes that their "Top Chef" appearances have made them famous for.
Season 4's Spike Mendelsohn opened "Good Stuff Eatery" in Washington D.C. On the menu you will find: "Spike's Five Napkin Burger" which took him a year to perfect.
His "Top Chef" nemisis ~ Richard Blais is the creative director for "Flip" based in Atlanta. Along with modern hamburger selections the menu also features a liquid nitrogen milkshake bar.
Also from season 4, Chef Antonia Lofaso has created a new bar menu for the hip and trendy at the "Foxtail Lounge" in West Hollywood. Her menu focuses on smaller bites and sweet treats such as crispy apple doughnuts presented with dipping sauces.
Season 3's Brian Malarkey is the executive chef at the "Oceanaire Seafood Room" in San Diego where fans can feast on his "angry lobster" entree.
Look for season 2 winner Ilan Hall to launch his new place in LA, season 3's champ Hung Huynh to open in New York and season 4's Stephanie Izard who is looking in Chicago.
Has anyone had an opportunity to feast at any of these sites? Let's hear about it.
Season 5 begins this evening ~ can't wait to see the creativity and talent of the newest crop of "top chefs."
Radhika Desai (from the new season 5) was the opening sous chef at my previous restaurant in Cincinnati. Go Rad Go! Let's get the FohBoh team behind her! I will probably throw something at my TV is she ever gets eliminated- she is awesome!
