Why don't Owners/Managers Ever Use the Office for Meetings?

Over the years, I have noticed that meetings with vendors, investors, or anyone else of significance to the business never takes place in the office. Usually, they occur within the dinning room or at the bar. What are the reasons?

I guess its an old tradition that mixes business with pleasure .
I'm not in the restaurant business, but I have friends who've owned them. The offices I have seen,
are pretty small in comparison to a traditional office.

If the meetings are within the restaurant or bar, there generally is more room to spread out and "breathe." It also gives the vendotrs and clients an idea of how the operation is.
I agree with Keith- the size of the typical office in a restaurant is not conducive to hold meetings. I hold all of my meetings in the bar area of the restaurant- there is water, glasses, pens, wine, etc. all in one convenient location. Our office is 10'x10' and there are four managers in the restaurant (usually not all at once)- you can see how space is at a premium.
The restaurant/bar is the most comforstable setting for a busness meeting.
It's good enough for our guests, so why shouldn't it be the best place for the people our companies do direct business with day to day? It also encourages our business partners to bring more business ot the facility for their other meetings and meals for both pleasure and business.

agree with all....
AND...the office in a restaurant is usually embarrasingly messy
to borrow from the sales term - GO TO
get out of the office

I don't have much use for managers who live in the office.

Cheers
