Are their systems the same for the franchise stores? I don't know if they are or not. I know that our Prescott store has really really slow systems.
To tell you the truth I have no idea, the guy that installed our system set up some short cuts that a, either dont work or b, dont make any sense. As of now my cc advance is rang in as a open priced item that throws off my bartenders and server reports. and im not overly fond of the fact that you have to buy a table service and tab screen seperately
You might have to do a PAID OUT in conjunction with the CC advance to balance the books. POS systems were not written with this in mind and I am sure it will be a couple of years before it is fully integrated into the POS system/financials.
Check out this company: www.hotsaucepos.com Great product. Let me know if you're interested; I have a connection there.
Hey Guys and
Gals!
Why does everyone insist on purchasing systems that require that you PAY extra for Bells and Whistles that should come standard. We offer a complete solution in POS that gives you the Fine Dining (floor layout) QSR, Delivery, Gift Cards, Loyalty Program, Employee Schedule and Payroll, All Sales Reporting, On-line Order Intergration, Hostess and Reservation Module, Integrated Credit Card Processing and much more as standard features. Why pay $1000's more for half the functions and half the service. We have created a whole series of Videos on-line at You Tube, and other places. Call us toll free 877-627-0636, visit us on-line at www.ACT-POS.com and you COULD save $1000's of dollars and get a REAL POS system that does everything you need. We offer Nation Wide installation and can even put your entire Menu in for you making the solution truly PLUG AND PLAY. Check out our VIDEOS right here on FOHBOH today.
To tell you the truth I didnt pick this system out nor do I want to spend the money to buy a completely new system, thank you to everyone who has endorced different POSs but we are a small restaurant and unfortunately in the position to use what we have to the best of its ability.
My first question is why are you offering cash back on credit cards? You run a restaurant not a bank. How does this this effect you processing fees? Most fees are based on interchange and percentage so if the guests bill is $100 and you charge them $120 for the meal and tip and then add on $50 or a $100 cash back you are paying percentage on $170 or $220. Unless the guests have an expectation of cash back and it's and service you provide why do it. It's costing you extra money and I would venture that it's not bringing in more guests or helping you retain them.

My last comment would be call ASI or use one other their technical forums. As you can see you won't recieve much tech support here.
Restaurant Manager has been a nightmare at some of the previous restaurants I have worked for. The system is not bad, but the support was nonexistant.
I feel your pain. You can muddle through most software, bottom line, you have got to have someone to call when you need help.
I realize this is a very late answer. But you need to carefully view your merchant agreement. VISA and MAstercard specifically forbid giving cash back on credit cards. Now....if you are talkign Debt cards, that is a whole different animal. But you risk your merchant status by providing cash back on credit cards. That is likely why ASI is having issues
